Known chiefly as the erstwhile frontwoman for the heavy metal band Warlock, Dorothee Pesch, ( known by her stagecoach name of Doro ), has been deemed as the “ Metal Queen ” by die-hard fans and music critics .
Born on 3 June 1964 in Düsseldorf, West Germany, Doro found herself listening to music adenine early on as three years honest-to-god earlier learning to play the piano and spill the beans at the old age of ten. After suffering a dangerous class of tuberculosis at the old age of sixteen, she declared that she would dedicate her entire life to music. Following the release of Warlocks debut studio album in 1984, Burning the Witches, Doro became an immediate fan-favorite. According to Kerrang and Allmusic, “ the desegregate of traditional heavy metallic and power ballads, together with her voice and stage presence led Warlock to success, an exception in the 80s ’ alloy picture dominated by male-fronted metallic bands. ”
Doro saw capital success throughout the late 1980s, as Warlocks music videos were constantly rotated on MTV, and the group had toured with other 80s family metallic element bands such as Dio, Megadeth, Judas Priest and W.A.S.P. Despite their success, Doro split ways with Warlock following the release of their fourth and final studio apartment album, Triumph and Agony, and started her own ring under her own name .
Doros career has since spanned for approximately four decades, as she has continued to make music on her own, performing most recently becoming the first grave metallic singer to have a drive-in concert due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Doro was enthusiastic about her most late border on to live shows, stating in an interview with Nuclear Blast that “ I ’ ve actually missed my fans and besides my band. The drive-in show has been a real unique know and a career highlight for me. It feels bang-up to rock out together again. ”
