Blue-eyed soul ( besides called white soul [ 1 ] ) is rhythm and blues and soul music performed by white artists. [ 2 ] The slang, [ 3 ] coined in the mid-1960s, was invoked by music magazines in the 1960s such as Life who used it for the Righteous Brothers ( album Soul and Inspiration for Verve Records ), Barry McGuire, Sonny & Cher ; [ 4 ] early times it meant style and mannerisms associated with person music spill the beans by ashen musicians. [ 7 ] The term blue-eyed soul was then applied to such artists as Sonny & Cher, Tom Jones, Barry McGuire, and Roy Head. Todd Rundgren began his career in Woody ‘s Truck Stop, a group based on the model of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. After splitting from Big Brother and the Holding Company, Janis Joplin formed a modern backing group, the Kozmic Blues Band, composed of session musicians like keyboardist Stephen Ryder and saxophonist Cornelius “ Snooky ” Flowers, american samoa well as former Big Brother and the Holding Company guitarist Sam Andrew and future Full Tilt Boogie Band bassist Brad Campbell.
