nothing like a 5-star criminal record on a Saturday ! I love this album so much, and I do n’t think there is a better album that represents Nirvana ‘s endowment more that this fructify. Beyond cool renditions of their own gorge, which was reasonably fresh at the meter, they did an amazing cover of Bowie ‘s The Man Who Sold The World. From beginning to end, they have never sounded better and the farinaceous Where Did You Sleep death Night is Cool Whip on top for me. Where would listening to this album be the best ? … .IN THE PINES, IN THE PINES !

A bunch together of album tracks and half a twelve shroud versions does n’t inevitably sound like the recipe for a killer whale acoustic survive album but ‘Unplugged In New York ‘ turns out to be something special. The bands material translates wonderfully well into suggest, acoustic arrangements, and their cover versions are often better than the originals. A tantalizing look at what Nirvana might ‘ve evolved into, and silent a meet if sad way for the ring to go out despite the bombastic shadow Kurt Cobain ‘s death casts over this criminal record .

There are a few of the Unplugged series that will go down in music history. This is one of them. Who would have guessed that these Nirvana songs and covers would translate so well into acoustic gems to make an amaze album. Performances are ace and memorable, and you only want to revisit this concert again and again .

actually cool to have a exist album that became so omnipresent and got serious airplay ! I feel if you mention ‘unplugged ‘, you ‘re talking about this album … or have to seriously clarify. Love that Nirvana pushed against the hitfactory MTV wanted and was able to make something singular and profound. I ‘d credibly give this a 4 if it was merely the music, as some of the tracks are n’t my favorite, but the covers, story, guests ( this is what presentation ‘d me to the Meat Puppets, rad ! ) and bequest got tantalum blow it up to a five for me !

Wow what a great operation. I ’ m not the biggest Nirvana fan in the world, but this feels like such a slice of time. And the unplug venue in truth showcases Cobain ’ s vocal strengths. This is probably the second best version of Man Who Sold the World. But it ’ randomness close .

When I was at school if you liked guitar music you were either into Britpop, Grunge, or Metal. The kids of Wyvern were n’t having people crossing over and liking different Genres. I had quite a happy childhood thus I joined the former bandwagon. now as a deplorable 30 something I can appreciate Nirvana a lot more. I still have no time for metallic element though. Stripped back these songs actually sound better which is a testamant to the song writing on prove. What you are hearing here is a ace at the absolute point of his powers. One of, if not the best live album always made featuring the greatest top interpretation of all time in Man who sold the global. 5/5

This album can ’ thyroxine be denied. It makes me ask, was Nirvana potentially a better acoustic ring ? Is this their most iconic album ? Was this the catalyst for Indy Rock ? It ’ randomness stopping point, but I think Nevermind is even the most iconic and tell that their just a good as rockers. This album is therefore good though, so many perfect covers chosen from an eclectic swath of artists. besides had great renditions of original songs. Kurt ’ s spotty voice, the acoustic guitars with electric pickups, the cello, the pump organ, the acoustic freshwater bass, the kid and KURTS SWEATER, possibly it ’ second because I ’ ve listened to it so many times, but it just feels closely perfect, particularly considering I broadly hate live albums and would constantly prefer an album recorded on the studio apartment. A+

This is an easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. A concert that will still be talked long after we are gone ( although I ’ vitamin d argue Alice in Chains unplugged is a better place for the unplug format ) it cruises to a five on the strength of the covers alone – Lake of Fire but particularly Where did you sleep last night which merely gave me goosebumps for the one-trillionth time this morning 😍

I heard this ahead In Utero or Bleach so these versions are hush somehow more familiar to me. Weird. The thing that makes this album great is that they very easily could ‘ve precisely gone out their and played their biggest hits acoustically and called it a day. But they truly entirely played one hit sung and in truth focused on curating a performance that worked best for that fructify and created a certain climate .

This album is the embodiment of why I ‘ll never pick populate music over “ produced ”. Yes, it is net that there ‘s a huge amount of talent there, but you know what ? Producers are talented besides, and they make music sound better. I do n’t need or want to hear people whooping appreciatively and cheering – I can enjoy the music without a live studio audience yo let me know what I should think about it. Let ‘s hear it for studio apartment producers. The most underestimate people in music .

Risentirlo myocardial infarction hour angle riportato indietro ai pomeriggi passati a cantare Where Did You Sleep last Night o a studiare l’assolo di Lake Of Fire dei Meat Puppets. 5 facilissimo .

Voto : 6

Recorded less than five months before Kurt Cobain ’ s death from suicide by gunfire, “ MTV Unplugged in New York ” by Nirvana nowadays plays as a haunt epitaph for the musician deoxyadenosine monophosphate well as a glimpse into where the band could ’ ve been headed musically had he not ended his life therefore young. I ’ ll keep my remarks inadequate as I ’ thousand certain plenty has been written already about this record, but in retrospect it ’ mho fascinating to reflect on how big Nirvana were that they could skirt MTV ’ s requirements for the program – rather than being entirely acoustic, they got to use electric amplification and guitar effects, and alternatively of performing their hits, Nirvana played about american samoa many covers ( six, “ The man Who Sold the World ” and “ Lake of Fire ” are two standouts ) as originals ( eight ), and “ Come As You Are ” was the only hit they performed ( “ All Apologies ” hadn ’ thymine yet been released as a single ). It ’ randomness worth noting that the entire operation can be viewed on YouTube – worth checking out for both the hilarious early 90 ’ s fashion on display in the consultation, and to see the jell decorated, in Cobain ’ randomness words, “ Like a funeral ” with astronomer lilies, black candles and a crystal chandelier .

The one know album on the top 15, the performance we saw again and again for months ( and then years and decades ) after that fateful April day back in 94, the one from which the most iconic pictures of Cobain are from ( google his name and see for yourself ), the sui generis MTV unplugged wide of covers as they decided it would be a disservice to play an acoustic version of their hits and by doing so making it the greatest of all, the one MTV entrance of this number I might say ! the picture, the consequence in history, the differently impossible tribute/eclipse of Bowie, Lead Belly ’ s come bet on from the dead. All that and so much more… as an album it should be disqualified from the list but of path no one should die without listening. I was 7 the first time I SAW this and hush give me the chills, I loved it before I always understood English, I was of course one of the ignorant kids Bowie would late dismiss for not knowing the writer of TMWSTW, actually the first gear song I always downloaded from Napster I shit you not ! After that I have had the opportunity to compare that hyper compressed mp3 file that took ages to download to the television receiver adaptation and belated to the vinyl and lossless versions… damn the mix is amaze ! I would pay to see a restore adaptation of the concert with the album shuffle sound recording. I nag all the time about the US-centrism of this list and how it is full of live albums but how can this one not be a 5 ?

This hot performance is a combination of multiple Nirvana albums, which dabbles chiefly in dirt and alternative rock. Nirvana as a band can be thought of as a paradigm shift in their outer space, with this album ‘s stripped arrangements of their music display best their ups and downs as a dirt kit. There is a heavy sense of vulnerability throughout the entire record, from the alive mansion atmosphere to the unplug musical overture – all to the dark qualities of the late Kurt Cobain ‘s life .

One of my darling bands from my early adolescent years and synonymous with the 90s as a unharmed. Bleach is inactive for me Nirvana ’ second best bring, everyone knows Nevermind had the songs that made them celebrated, however Unplugged is possibly the album that most people associate with this band. Those people are, of course, dickheads, but however this is still without doubt a bang-up album and deserve of a station on any list of albums to hear before you die ( possibly prophetically Kurt recorded it just months before he himself died in a tragic accident with a shotgun ). Yes you could argue that they played it a piece safe with the plant list – choose to pad it out with covers preferably than rework their own catalog into acoustic numbers. I mean should the fact that 42 % of this album is covers take away from its overall admiration ? No, not when they are executed sol brilliantly. indeed the album actually catches fire from Plateau onwards, 4 of those last 5 songs are covers which begs the motion, could Nirvana have established themselves as the greatest covers band of all meter had they not wasted their time on amour propre projects such as In Utero ? We will never know. What I do know is 27 years on this still gives me goosebumps and actually is quite brainy. But I can ’ thymine feign there are not sections of this album that embroil and as such I can ’ thymine quite bring myself to give it full moon marks, ampere much as I wanted to. 4/5

Pero bueno, la versiones son buenisimas para mí . 👍 View Author 4 closely lived up to their ballyhoo with this acoustic set. good typeset, but even vastly overrated 👍 View Author 4 An absolute authoritative. Been in my deoxyribonucleic acid since 1994 . 👍 View Author 4 Heard of the second song before Rock Punk 👍 View Author 4 massive live album . 👍 View Author 4 Can see why this is a classic, even if it 's not entirely my cup of tea . 👍 View Author 4 One of my favorite bands from my early adolescent years and synonymous with the 90s as a whole. Bleach is however for me Nirvana ’ south best bring, everyone knows Nevermind had the songs that made them celebrated, however Unplugged is possibly the album that most people associate with this band. Those people are, of course, dickheads, but however this is still without doubt a capital album and deserve of a place on any list of albums to hear before you die ( possibly prophetically Kurt recorded it just months before he himself died in a tragic accident with a shotgun ). Should the fact that 42 % of this album is covers take away from its overall respect ? No, not when they are executed sol brilliantly. indeed the album in truth catches fire from Plateau onwards and 4 of those death 5 songs are covers. 27 years on this still gives me goosebumps and very is quite brainy. But I can ’ t make-believe there are not sections of this album that dredge and as such I can ’ deoxythymidine monophosphate quite bring myself to give it entire marks, a much as I wanted to . 👍 View Author 4 I 'm not the biggest sports fan of Nirvana but I 've heard little of their music, so I 'll try to be bonny. With `` About a Girl '', I can already hear a classify of proto-Foo Fighters sound taking shape. I have to wonder if Nirvana would have finally produced an album like The Color And Shape if Kurt Cobain had n't died. This album does n't very change my opinion of Nirvana 's music - They have a sound I 'm precisely not interest in - but the art and pure human emotion on display is actually telling. You can feel the tenor on Kurt during the performance and just how much of his soul is going into his music. It 's compelling, even to me. And the traverse of The Man Who Sold The World may be my favorite ever . 👍 View Author 4 The covers are fantastic, but for the album cuts, I prefer the studio apartment versions . 👍 View Author 4 therefore far very good, decidedly a solid 4. The chief singer adds a batch to the beats, his voice is super unique ohio shit that 's kurt cobain I can completely understand if person said Nirvana was their favored isthmus, they 're great Back one-half is decidedly slower than the first gear half, credibly would have helped to be more cheerful 👍 View Author 4 clear choice 1st of 1001. Heard it before but looking advancing to a re-visit. I remember Kurt 's acoustic sound phenomenal and his voice being note for note on the money with even more emotion than the studio recorded versions . 👍 View Author 4 nice 👍 View Author 4 just incredible, highlights the talent of Nirvana. No fillers, no duff tracks, barely one great song after another. arguably their finest album. Actual score 4.5 👍 View Author 4 always loved this album and I remember seeing it live on MTV ( probably live on tape ) 👍 View Author 4 Cobain and the band rise that the forte of their songs are abstruse in the songs, not dependent on the particulars of recording. The undoer has a commodity amount of harmonic outlandishness that comes through extra-clear as presented. But to balance the outlandishness, this is one of the more familiar live performances I 've heard captured. There 's apparent field, but it 's the kind between friends and not the above-you variety more common to rock bands. MTV in the title puts a slenderly preternatural spin on earnestness, but does n't hurt the music . 👍 View Author 4 One of my darling alive albums . 👍 View Author 4 great case for Nirvana 👍 View Author 4 Wow. I haven ’ thymine pulled this one extinct in awhile. It ’ s an intimate performance, at a clock when we were longing for intimate performances. even after his death, it feels like we are even correct there in that MTV unplugged hearing. identical few alive albums invoke those feelings. Hell, very few studio albums manage to stir up any feelings. not the best album always, but makes this biting genX FEEL something, and that ain ’ thymine nothing . 👍 View Author 4 enjoyable performance. I frequently pull this out and listen again . 👍 View Author 4 Nice acoustic covers. Cobain has a style all his own that you have to like, or not ( 7/10 ) foot : Where Did You Sleep last Night, All Apologies 👍 View Author 4 Great album 👍 View Author 4 I was ten when Kurt Cobain died, and I did n't see what all the hubbub was approximately. Why were people crying about the death of person they did n't even know. All these years subsequently, I have more of an agreement of why his music was therefore loved. They 'll never be my darling band, but I can at least appreciate them for wholly changing the front of rock 'n' roll radio aside from the drivel that gained popularity in the 80 's. besides, props to them for not playing Smells Like Teen Spirit . 👍 View Author 4 I ’ ve always found Nirvana to be extremely overplayed in the radio universe ( and this album is guilty of that excessively ). As I get older I appreciate them more though. There are some great songs contained within here. Fave tracks : “ Lake of Fire ” ” Pennyroyal Tea ” “ Dumb ” 👍 View Author 4 Nirvana 's and Clapton 's unplug albums are the only two unplug albums that should not be in a trash pile. The `` Let 's do an unplug album '' scheme got to be so excessive and such an obvious money grab. The `` incrimination '' for this lies squarely with Clapton since he made an amaze unplug album that deservingly sold a shitload of copies but unfortunately started the vogue. MTV was quite glad to enable all the others to jump on the bandwagon. Nirvana 's unplug album allowed a very different take on their songs. besides, when you have such good lyrics, it 's decent to be able to decipher them. Pennyroyal tea might have my favorite Nirvana lyrics : `` Give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld, so I can sigh everlastingly. '' I suppose it should n't be a great jolt that Kurt liked Bowie but who would have guessed they would cover The Man Who Sold The World ? This song is one example of another expression of this album that makes it stand out from all the bandwagon jumpers on - that being the boastful `` Fuck you '' to MTV by not playing their big hits and having the Meat Puppets be their limited guests. The final separate that is special is that this album feels like Kurt 's roll sung. I think they were on tour when they did this record and continued to tour afterwards but the handiness of this concert footage made it feel like the last concert. RIP 👍 View Author 4 I recorded this show on VHS and rewatched it so much, the magnetic media started to wear down. It is entirely impossible for me to disconnect this album from the experience of finally having access to my favorite set, for an integral show. The memory is made all the more poigniant by it 's proximity to Kurt 's suicide, where this integral indicate took on an wholly different palor and tone. Attempting to detach myself from my deep association to the moment in meter, the album itself is still legitimately great music. The pop relatability of the dance band 's music, including their covers, is made homely in every track. Kurts vocals are unusually stable and smooth, save for when he 's growling out a chorus. Throughout it all, there is a tenderness and an closeness that is common through the early days of the unplug performances, and for which this album established the water line. actually, the only reason I do n't listen to this album a lot at this point, is because it hurts a little besides much to listen to. then again, it is better to have loved and lost, than it is to have never loved at all . 👍 View Author 4 The first live album I have received on this list, and a fantastic one at that. This concert is one I was familiar with and had seen footage of earlier, but I had never taken the time to listen to the entire performance. Nirvana is obviously beloved and could do no wrong back in the early 90 's, but I feel that this field day helped elevate them to that legend status they have today since it is then good. It says a lot when a band can prove themselves through the Unplugged concept. While they are chiefly known for intemperate guitars and screaming in their album tracks, they carry this performance with subdued, aroused vocals and compressed instrumentals that create a very intimate and special listen feel. I feel this fabric would be more appealing to a broader audience than their early music in that it has a little something for everyone. While the renditions of songs from their older albums are bang-up ( possibly some not a potent as the original record versions ), the covers are what stand out here the most. The man Who Sold the World is antic and is decidedly the most well known brood due to it primitively being a Bowie track, but I truly enjoyed the elongate of Meat Puppets covers ( specially Plateau ), and the racetrack Where Did You Sleep last Night could not be a better closer. The fact that these covers were included gives a great look into Kurt Cobain 's inspirations that fueled his creativity, and the intense performances on them makes it deplorable that we did n't get more music from him after this. While I do n't have much negative to say, I will admit that I have to knock this one down a morsel just for the fact that it is a hot performance rather than an album. I evaluate a setlist/show different than I would a track list, and I find it much more impressive to compile fresh, strange songs in a cohesive manner rather than combining prove hits and covers. As an feel, I would give it a 4.5, but as an album that appears on this list, I give it a little lower. 4/5 . 👍 View Author 3 *MTV Unplugged* was OK, and I recognised a lot of songs from in music shops and stuff. I 'm not a huge winnow of alive albums in general though, excluding a few exceptional artists, and the songs did n't very feel that they `` added '' anything to the studio versions, except getting to hear the covers 👍 View Author 3 I 'm trying to get over my annoyance that this was n't, in fact, an unplug performance, and look at the music objectively, but it 's hard. At the end of the day, they 're silent mumbly Nirvana songs, or covers done in the mumbly Nirvana direction. This album was treated with kid gloves when it came out because Kurt Cobain had merely died, and I do n't understand why people even think it 's great nowadays. Best racetrack : dumb 👍 View Author 3 Live-optræden, autentisk, stille rock, covers, akustisk, nærværende 👍 View Author 3 1-1-21 I would have liked to hear more of their actual hits being played acoustically rather than so many cover songs . 👍 View Author 3 good album. Enjoyed listening to it. not quite a ****, but about ! 👍 View Author 3 Pretty decent alive. I never got it Nirvana american samoa a lot as I wanted to. But can hush appreciate their influence on the dirt scene 👍 View Author 3 Unplugged was such a boastfully 90s thing. Pretty cool there was a major cable television network campaign to strip down popular music and expose the underlying songwriting and poetry. It 's about taken for granted nowadays with then many youtube outlets ( NPR Tiny Desk ). I do n't think Aerosmith was pulling out the acoustic bass and delivering a sparing rendition of Dream On in the 70s, although that would 've been a cover. I 've never been a Nirvana ridicule. I wanted to be a Nirvana guy, specially when I first moved to the NW at senesce 13 and literally everyone else was a Nirvana person. When I was 5 I had a atrocious temper and would punch holes in my bedroom walls. I think I got a fortune of inner demons out early on. possibly I would 've loved Nirvana back then and actually scared the hell out of my parents. In the mid 90s Nirvana anger and outward apathy did n't connect. I liked Pearl Jam 's tunes and underlying sense for triumph. still do. I 'm a softy. Give Nirvana the unplug treatment and it hits different. The vocals come through more honest less ironic. The delicate sound invites sympathy. The alive room feels more communal. The man Who Sold the World guitar solo is absolutely perfect. But I ca n't do 14 straight tracks of it or else I 'll start punching the walls of my mental bedroom. B+ 👍 View Author 3 very well 👍 View Author 3 Some big moments throughout but does drag on a bite in the middle . 👍 View Author 3 not flush their greatest hits live. This is the foremost album that i listened of Nirvana, and one was left dissapointed . 👍 View Author 3 This was good . 👍 View Author 3 very few live records truly work for me, but this one does admirably. I do n't have this huge love for Nirvana, but an Unplugged album can be legit . 👍 View Author 3 For a while immediately, it has been trendy to wax poetic over how fantastic this record is. It 's not all that. There is nothing to be gained from listening to the acoustic versions of studio cuts About A Girl, Come As You Are, Pennyroyal Tea, Dumb, Polly, On A Plain, etc. No new depths are plumbed, nothing concern is revealed about the songs. The value of MTV Unplugged In New York is in the covers, most of which are antic and rightfully celebrated. They are a case for Kurt Cobain 's interpretative skills and grok, which are impressive. Who knew ? On Jesus Does n't Want Me For A Sunbeam, he resists melodrama, about like a dirt James Taylor, with a deceptively deadpan operation. For his future flim-flam, he improves on Bowie -- no belittled feat -- cutting to the heart of the lyrics with tightly coiled restraint. Cobain blows the Meat Puppets out of the water system with his interpretations of a trio of tunes from Meat Puppets II, revealing nuances of mean and melody that were scantily there ahead. But the biggest disclosure is Leadbelly 's Where Did You Sleep last Night, where Cobain unleashes a climactic howl of pain that chills me to the bone every clock time I think about it, let alone hear it. Although I prefer the music on Mark Lanegan 's adaptation, Kurt 's vocal is authoritative. Kurt 's covers are so amazing here, I wish he had n't bothered with originals. That album would have been a 4.5 at least . 👍 View Author 3 Have credibly listened to this more than thier studio apartment albums over the years. It 's a courteous record and it has the spirit of the set enjoying themselves. A few standout cover tracks are the foreground for me . 👍 View Author 3 Kurt calm unconvincing for me 👍 View Author 3 never understood the bustle about Nirvana. Some fairly adept songs on this album ( by the manner, describing it as `` unplug '' is stretching it reasonably. `` A morsel quiet '' would be a better description ) but all of them have precisely the lapp social organization, so it all sounds very samey . 👍 View Author 3 Un poco aburrido 👍 View Author 3 I think Nirvana was a very estimable ring, but I besides think they were fabulously overrated. ( Yes, it is possible to think both those things at the like time. ) possibly if they had stuck around for more than 3 albums they could have earned their way among the all-time greats, but alas they did not. This album is a effective, solid album. The acoustic sound goes well with Kurt 's voice and with some of the songs chosen for this. Highlights are the David Bowie cover The Man Who Sold the World and the closer Where Did You Sleep final Night. 3 stars . 👍 View Author 3 For the first time, I think, I listened to this while trying to separate it from the contrast with their studio records and take it as itself. The performance itself is just all right, pretty ragged at times ( and I 'm not barely talking about the IDGAF of dirt in general ; the guy 's in bad shape ). I suspect the cognition of Cobain 's destine shortly after this colors all rendition and I 'm no different. There are some bright ones in here. ( All Apologies, Lake of Fire, WDYSLN ). But I disagree with the `` greatest know albums of all time '' appointment . 👍 View Author 3 classic Nirvana. Lots of hits but was n't entirely in the mood. Fun sound . 👍 View Author 3 A know album. very much not appreciated lmao 👍 View Author 3 I like the less begrimed good as an acoustic outfit, but it highlights the fact that there international relations and security network ’ t a distribute of compass in the song-writing – the phrase in Polly, Dumb and On a Plain sounds identical companion. The line of the more rootsy Meat Puppets numbers is nice and the interpretation of Man Who Sold the World is bang-up .
