How Mass Appeal Brought Wu-Tang Docu-Series to Life

The unmistakeable fountainhead nod that is a merchandise of New York ’ s germinal knock group, The Wu-Tang Clan, seemed to choreograph the Beacon Theatre in New York ’ s Upper West Side survive Friday evening during the group ’ s debut film screening at the Tribeca Film Festival. Directed by film maker and writer, Sacha Jenkins – Creative Director at Mass Appeal, the film gathers footage and interviews from earth tours, Wu-Tang ’ s childhood, tag meetings and early radio appearances – adding the missing ocular elements to the sound recording storytelling Wu-Tang mastered in their music. Taking place over the course of 15 months, the film came together relatively quickly, gathering momentum once people started to realize the crew had honest intentions to thoughtfully tell the history of The Wu-Tang Clan. “ The movie about making this documentary is actually a better movie than the one we made, ” jokes Bittenbender .

Screened at the celebrated Tribeca Film Festival with a populate operation from Wu-Tang afterwards, the group performed half a twelve of their hits with a newly face in the group – Young Dirty Bastard, the son of the late Ol ’ Dirty Bastard – a stand out member of The Wu-Tang who passed in 2004.
